Sehgal says good bye to first-class cricket

Odisha left-arm spinner Saurabh Sehgal announced his retirement from first-class cricket today. He made his decision public after meeting Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera at Cuttack. Saurabh took 42 wickets and scored 278 runs in 17 first-class matches he played for Odisha in his decade-long career.

``Shoulder injury forced me to say good bye to first-class cricket. I sustained this injury while playing a Ranji match at Baroda in 2012. Despite treatment for three years, I could not fully recorver,’’ explained Sehgal in a statement.

Saurabh, 35, thanked his family members, East Coast Railway, OCA, home club Saheed Sporting, St Joseph’s High School and Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) for helping him in his playing career. He, however, announced to keep playing for his employers East Coast Railway and accept responsibities entrusted to him by OCA and Bhubaneswar Athletic Association.
